Swimming in the Woodland

In summer 2016 we began work on a long pool that is just deep enough for swimming. The long term plan is to improve on the design each year, without detracting from its natural attractiveness.

Yes, the water is chilly - but there are many reasons why cold water swimming is considered to be good for mind and body. The Finns, for example, sauna and swim all year round and have an excellent health record into old age. Because of the overhanging branches, it's possible to slide into the water gradually, which allows your body time to adjust to the lower temperature. The video below is just one of many made by or about people who are definitely hooked on wild swimming.
