Ecotherapy Training and Experience Days for Professionals

Ecotherapy Training
Pass on the benefits of ecotherapy to others
Many of us work with people who might well benefit from outdoor experiences.
Yet knowing how to set about designing a programme that will suit your clients, and feeling confident about delivering outdoor activities that will really make a difference to both their physical and psychological wellbeing - well, that's often quite daunting.

Ecotherapy Scotland offers you an intensive Ecotherapy Training Day, held near Dumfries, Southern Scotland (or in a suitable location near to you) that will take you through each stage of the Ecotherapy process. I will guide you through a selection of techniques that you will experience directly yourself and then learn how to introduce to your clients.
These include techniques for:
grounding                                     introducing to nature            dealing with fear
raising interest                              focusing                            wide angle awareness
heightening sensory awareness       raising group energy          calming group energy
sustaining group interest                encouraging group involvement        group dynamics
working together                            one-to-one working        simple crafts and under-cover activities                      the power of nature              encouraging reflection        creative nature involvement
ongoing feedback                            intuitive course correction        ending with anticipation

Each module of outdoor activities will be rounded off with discussion and the chance to ask questions before going on to the next. I will help you design your own bespoke programme to suit your needs as the day progresses. In the event of less-then-ideal weather, outdoor forays will be interspersed with retreats to the woodland classroom, tipi or other space, depending on venue. A link to our Ecotherapy Course Notes pdf will be provided at the end of the day, or a hard copy can be supplied on request.

The cost of an Ecotherapy Training Day includes:
  • collection from Dumfries or Lockerbie Railway Station
  • morning tea & coffee
  • simple lunch (usually soup and homemade bread)
  • afternoon tea
  • all instruction and materials
  • a certificate of attendance
The cost of the training day is £110 per person, all inclusive. Discounts may be available for groups or for special situations.

For training undertaken in other parts of the UK, additional charges will be made to cover travel and time.
2 and 3 day courses are also available: please enquire.
Please let us know about any special dietary needs on booking.

You provide:
  • your own transport to the collection point or the venue
  • sensible outdoor clothing (waterproof jacket, warm and waterproof footwear, hat, gloves, fleece or sweater, spare socks or slippers for indoors. Obviously depends on the season but even in summer you may need all of that on certain days!)
